Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor, Maine, United States
The main event of the day was a 2 1/2 hour Oli Trolley tour through Acadia National Park with stops at Cadillac Mountain, the gardens in the park and Thunder rock. We had a very enjoyable tour with Mike our guide and driver. We only had 15 minutes at each stop which of course is not enough. Enough for all of us to know that we would like to come back. The trees were starting to get some color but we were early for the full bloom of New England fall foliage.

How was Acadia park, beautiful, breath-taking and fantastically green and varied but that all does it a disservice . The views from Cadillac Mountain were spectacular on the clear day we had. You could look out over the islands dotting the Atlantic in the area of Bar Harbor, the deep blues of the ocean contrasting with the greens of the Islands. I was inspired to really make our dream of RV travel around the United States a reality so we could have time to soak in the beauty of spots like this. It is for me a beauty that is as spiritual and inspiring as the greatest of churches and has me wanting to see more of what the States have to offer.

I had a big bowl of great lobster corn chowder for lunch. Mike had a shredded steak, cheese and onion sandwich. We then shared a piece of blueberry pie with ice cream for dessert.

The rest of the day was lovely but anti-climatic to the morning. We walked some along the shore path in Bar Harbor, browsed the shops on Main street and had a great time. It is a nice touristy town with plenty of shops and places to eat for sure but also a lovely peaceful town once off the main street. I am sure it is so much more peaceful when there are not two cruise ships tendering passengers in throughout the day.

The evening we rested, saw the last main production show which was a lively show for the Eurodam dancers and singers. I enjoyed their four shows and I thought that the singers were really good so it made for some nice evenings in the Mainstage. Other nights they have had comedy, piano and harmonica players and tonight we have a vocalist on stage.
