Norht to Alaska

Seattle, Washington, United States
The whole process of getting on the ship was very smooth. We choose to pay for the Faster to the Fun option Carnival offers which gets us on right after priority boarding for the platinum club members and allows us to drop off items at our room before the rooms are completely opened up for everyone. It cost $49 but the two times we have done it we felt it worth the cost to just get settled in quicker.

The ship we all felt was nicely decorated not as loud a design as some Carnival ships with a theme of various world wide legends for the art work . Much of the decorative all panels were reminisce of medieval art. It was all enjoyable with out standing out to much. There were many areas this first day that were quiet to get away to when we wanted to read as well as areas like the casino when it opened and the Atrium bar that were loud. The bar was loud only because of the music which was a pleasant mix of old tunes by a singer backed by a small band. The music that I have heard this first day was a pleasant mix with a solo guitarist in one bar, the group at the Atrium and other entertainers at the Red Frog Pub and Piano Bar. Only listened to them briefly but it was an enjoyable mix.

Christina had chicken and pasta that she enjoyed with a different seasoning on the chicken that was a good according to her. Marge and I had the Sweet and Sour shrimp which was really enjoyable. The shrimp were fried and tasted great. We have a couple and mother in law as our table mates from Indiana. They are frequent Carnival cruiser but up until now in the Caribbean. They took a few days touring in Seattle before the cruise and enjoyed our city.

We finished off the day with the Welcome Show in the Follies theater. It was the cruise director having fun with some audience members and telling a little bit about the ship and cruise. He was funny and the show was entertaining if not fantastic. A fun first day on the Legend.
