Today we sailed the Inland Passage between Vancouver Island and the mainland although there were many smaller islands in the area as well. This was our day to relax and spend time reading, creating blog entries, knitting and just taking it easy. We really just all kind of did our own things except for connecting at meal times. We did get together to buy what photographs we wanted getting 9 in total from formal to casual shots that we liked of the three of us.
We had decided to do the paid Steak House tonight which is the Nouveau Restaurant on the Carnival Legend
. There is a $35 dollar charge but we wanted Christina to experience what a fine steak house was like without the cost as at places like Ruth Chriss one dinner can cost the same as three of them at Nouveau. Anyways it was a delicious dinner with Marge getting Lobster, Christina Prime Rib and a Filet Mignon for myself. It was all prepared as requested with exquisite sauces and spices. A fun way to end the cruise. While I am not sure I would do it again but not because of the food is not very good and so is the service but mainly because I thoroughly enjoy the main restaurants choices and food and that is included in the cruise cost.
One of the more special times on this day was when for about 30-45 minutes we passed by an area with humpback whales. We saw the blow spouts and bodies of between 3 and 6 whales feeding in the area. Not like we could get real close up views but it was very exciting to get to see them so clearly from the deck.
We finished up with the Marriage Show where they asked questions of newest married couple (married 12 months), the oldest married couple (65 years) and a couple in-between (28 years) to participate. They asked 10 questions that each spouse had to answer separately and then the answers were compared. It was all in good fun and the audience including us enjoyed our time watching the show. After the show we put our luggage out for disembarkment and headed to bed to be ready for our early 8 am time off the ship. We got Faster to the Fun option for the cruise that allowed us to be one of the first groups off the ship. Nice when it is so hard to just sit an wait for our group to be called to disembark.
