San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico

This past week has been pretty eventful. Meeting old friends, new family and getting our kayak in the water a few more times. We are settling into more of a routine, playing ball and golfing, and just hanging out. The weather continues to be on the warm side, although everyone keeps saying it will get cooler. Sue has been wearing the odd sweatshirt and always has a blanket nearby!

Some Assembly Required

On Thursday, last week friends of ours, Joellen and Ken Kipp, brought their rig into San Carlos. They are fellow houseless Canadians. Jo and Sue played ball together for several years. We knew that they had been spending the past several winters in Mexico, travelling in their 5th wheel. This spring they sold their house in Calgary and committed to the 5th wheel full-time. We were lucky enough to hook up with them this fall They were generous enough to share lots of information.

We had a great time here in San Carlos with them. We were able to check out the RV park and have a great paddle in the estuary. Lots of laughs and renewed friendship, although Jo and Sue aren't sure Tim and Ken should be together for long periods of time, especially unsupervised!!

The other surprising thing about San Carlos that we found out prior to leaving is that Tim has relatives that spend the winter here. Too funny. He has a Great Aunt, Doris Jones, that has been coming to San Carlos for 40 years. She has a lovely house on the water, and her daughter and son-in-law join her down here for the winter. We had a lovely visit with her and some of her friends on Saturday night. Again, another instance of forgetting to bust out the camera. Sue is definitely not her mother!
