Feliz Navidad

San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico
Don't worry, there will be no Spanish Christmas lyrics here.  However most of you probably understand the title!
It has been fun watching everyone decorate their houses and businesses for Christmas.  Lots of lights on some, while none on others.  Totally different from last year's prep in Ecuador.  It does appear that most businesses close for Christmas Day.  There are some bars and restaurants that serve Christmas dinner.
We brought our small tree here with us.....okay Sue insisted......and did a bit of decorating.  We also put some rope lights on the patio and we have a couple of crazy hats to wear out tonight and for Christmas Day.  Sue even did some baking, we are eating some and giving most of it away.
This past week has been fun.  We had a couple of friends drop in on Sunday for some pickleball lessons.  Freddie is a fairly serious player, so was able to pass on some of the rules and strategies for the game.  There was a lot of laughing as we tried to figure it all out.  For those of you that haven't played, it is a combo of tennis, badminton and racketball.  Smaller court, similar to a badminton court, smaller rackets, about the size of a racketball racket and you use a type of whiffle ball.  The ball definitely does not bounce like a tennis ball or racketball.  That takes some adjusting for sure!
Pickleball was followed up by some great food and music at the Soggy Peso.  It is a local hangout on the beach.  The bar has been here forever, starting out as a drink shack that has evolved over time.  We actually got to see it fairly soggy as a rain storm moved in.  It really rained hard.  For this area, at this time of year, very rare.
We have also had a juvenile manta ray in the marina the past couple of days.  We have been enjoying watching it swim around, presumably feeding.  They really are very graceful.
Wednesday was a new adventure.  We joined a local group that goes quading every week.  Murray, a transplanted fellow Canadian, invited us along in his 4 person unit.  Murray was a professional race car driver and enjoys the off road adventure.  Our foursome included another friend we have made through baseball, Debbie.  She and Tim sat in the back and giggled like teenagers.  Actually we all did!  Doing 360's on the mud flats to climbing up some fairly steep ridges, we had a great ride.
This morning we are enjoying a coffee and deciding whether or not to go golfing or if Sue should bake some shortbread.  We shall decide after the second cup!
We both wish each and everyone of you a safe and joyous holiday season.  Thank you for joining us on our adventures.  We look forward to exploring more in the new year.
¡Feliz Navidad y un Feliz Año Nuevo!
