First, let's get the construction report out of the way. Things are humming right along. These guys are working some long hours. The first two structures are getting some parging and they are laying the foundation for several more. They will finish the structure, then add holes for water and power. Once those holes are added then come the windows and doors, mainly to keep the other stuff from diasappearing!
Every week there are a a couple of markets. One has more food stuffs and the other has more textile goods. The Rescate Bazaar hosted an indigenous group last Saturday. They came with traditional dances, music and crafts. Fun to watch. If you have the time, watch the videos at the end of the photos.
The Rotary Club hosts a home tour each year as a major fundraiser for the 62 kids that are awarded scholarships to and support in school. They range from elementary to university age students. All the students, as well as their parents, must sign contracts and adhere to fairly strict rules. Everyone must buy in to the program. It is quite successful as well.
There were six houses on the tour this year. We got to see some very interesting homes, most not in our price range! Interesting to see the decor and the views. Each home was totally unique. Some more so than others. I think Tim's favourite was the one owned by the former Playboy Bunny. Okay so maybe not the home, as the owners were there!
We have been out in the water, enjoying our kayak, playing some ball and of course golfing. We have even dabbled a bit in the sport of pickleball. There was a large international tournament this past weekend at the Mirador courts. Really nice facility. We had some friends playing so we went to watch. For all you pickleballers, there were some 5.0's in town so they were fun to watch. We actually upgraded our cheaply racquets. We should be spectacular now! We have been playing with some friends in our condo, as we have a court there.
Yesterday we played in the Valentines Tournament, hosted by our ladies golf league. We played with Dennis Sogn and Donnie, a niece of Tim's Aunt Doris. We actually golfed well, surprising us all with a win! The cost to play was $350 pesos each to play ($46C total). Breakfast, lunch and prizes. Not a bad deal.
This morning we were up bright and early to embark on another adventure. We are driving down to Mazatlan for a few days. Stay tuned!
