London, England, United Kingdom
Today was a busy day. For a start we made our way, nice and early on the train to the Tower of London. The Tower of London was amazing! We found out lots of information like that William the Conqueror invaded England ad founded the Tower of London in 1066. We also saw the dazzling crown jewels, Torture tower, the Ravens of the castle and a lot more! We took a tour with a Beefeater who are the Royal Family's bodyguards. Our 'tourguide' was really funny! After 3 hours we had had enough. We walked over the Tower Bridge which was amazing!! The towers on either side are so intricately designed. Some more modern buildings that Dad pointed out have been nicknamed the Shard, the Gherkin, the Walkie-Talkie and the Cheese Grater! We walked to a little supermarket and brought some lunch to have at a cute, little park. The park was very nice, and there were lots of people. We stayed at the park for about an hour before going on a really long walk along the river to the Shakespeare Globe Theatre! It has just recently been rebuilt exactly the same as it was when Shakespeare was around. We didn't get to go inside the actual theatre but the photos looked amazing! Then we walked over Millennium bridge which was very cool. We were very hot and tired by this point but we still had to get home! so we walked to trafalgar Square which was humongous and the lions are so cool! They are enormous as well. We walked to Piccadilly Circus which was packed (!) and hopped on an original double-decker bus! We sat at the top which was very exciting. We saw the Marble Arch and then took another bus to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben which look so cool! To finish it off we took the underground back to our house. soon arrived back at where we were staying. Today it was 30.C! It was very hot which made our day very tiring. In the evening we had dinner with David who is Dad's old friend from when he lived in London.
Some facts we found out in the Tower of London: The first royal beasts to arrive at the tower were the lions, polar bear and elephant - they came from Europe and North Africa around 1300 . Exotic animals lived in the Tower of London for over 600 year including tigers, snakes and monkeys!
