Landing in Glasgow

Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
We've landed in Glasgow safe and sound, caught a bus to the city centre (within 15 minutes from the airport) and checked into the hotel. Now we had some lunch and are going to have a nap, to get some rest after the flight :) Then we're going to explore the city for a while!

Update:
After a short nap we went on a walking tour, recommended by Rick Steves's book :) However, we did the tour backwards, as the final stop of it was the closest to out hotel .
So, the first thing we saw was an old tenement, which is something like a huge townhouse. An old lady, who lived in the apartment, now turned into a museum, never threw anything out. So, her place stayed preserved since 1940s. The rooms are lit with gas lamps, there's a huge coal stove in the kitchen and every room (except for bathroom) has a bed in it.
After the tenement house, we visited Glasgow School of Art and even caught a glimpse of a student-made art exhibition. Then we had a lunch at student-oriented cafe not far from th art school and continued the walk, checking out streets, houses, people and other sights of Glasgow.
In George Square, lined with statues of great Glaswegians, Julia posed with Robert Burns :)

Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North,
The birth-place of Valour, the country of Worth;
Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands for ever I love.

Chorus.-My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here,
My heart's in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer;
Chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe,
My heart's in the Highlands, wherever I go.

Farewell to the mountains, high-cover'd with snow,
Farewell to the straths and green vallies below;
Farewell to the forests and wild-hanging woods,
Farewell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods.

Robert Burns (1789)
