After a long flight, 3 movies, a shorter flight and a bus ride we finally made it to Osaka! It took a bit of trial and error to find the hotel, because streets in Japan are often not named and all buildings look weird. But we managed to find it, check in and freshen up after the trip.
Jerry ordered a SIM card with a data plan to be delivered to the hotel, so we are able to connect to internet on my phone from anywhere in Japan. Now we will never get lost, Google maps are always available :)
We went for a short walk in the evening, between 8 and 10 PM. Since we are staying right next to Tennoji train station, we walked over there to check it out, to see crowds of people running around even at this late hour and to see if we can find some food. We got to try some authentic takoyaki at a tiny stall nearby. We saw an intriguing old area packed with various bars and food places, gotta take some photos there tomorrow! It was raining pretty hard this evening, so we stopped by a 7-11, got some onigiri with surprise fillings (because the store clerk was unable to translate Japanese text into English) and headed back to the hotel.
The hotel is actually pretty unusual for Japan: for a fairly cheap price we got a decent sized room with 2 beds (instead of a "semi-double" that you usually get here), fully stocked bathroom (towels, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, razors, fancy toilet with many buttons), slippers, pajamas, tea and coffee!
Note to self: don't book flights so close together in Japan, because they do not send luggage directly to the final destination. Today we only had about 50-60 minutes between flights and during that time we had to go through customs, pick up luggage, exit arrivals area, find departures area and check into the second flight...

Food with mystery fillings are the best part of travelling? :) So are unnamed streets where all buildings look weird I think! Enjoy your adventures.

You didn't sleep on the plane at all? How about the following plane? :)
And you went for a walk right away??
How is Jerry liking Japan? Are people mistaking him for a Japanese? :)
How are you feeling re: time difference? 13 hours, right?
