Mocksville, North Carolina, United States
Thousand Trails Forest Lake - 7 nights
Nice spot along the banks of the Yadkin River. First day had Site D7. Next day moved to site up the hill because of the afternoon sun; Site C9.
Many activities: pool, mini golf, trails for hiking/biking, horseback riding, etc.
Walked nature trail only we went on road and missed the trail.
Played miniature golf.
Toured some of the nearby towns
KANNAPOLIS: not much here. Just a few outlet stores.
Building a science research college so lots of construction happening.
Tarheal BBQ--sliced pork, just ok.
WINSTON-SALEM:
Bethabara-Moravian Historic Park
settlement--Visitor center and ruins.
Old Salem: The village depicts German colonial settlers of the Moravian church.
Miksch House--18th Century

Salem Tavern for Lunch. The building next to it was the original tavern where George Washington stayed.
Excellent meal: snapper with feta cheese and shrimp bow-tie pasta in cream sauce.

Shopped in the gift stores.

Winkler Bakery--fresh made onion bread just out of oven and sugar cake, yum.

Clemmons: Tanglewood Park--Gardens--not much flowering now.  Putting up tons of Xmas decorations. Looks like a great place to visit at Xmas!
LEXINGTON: came here two different days just to try different barbecue places.
#1 BBQ  (locals call it Honey Monks)--good chopped pork; great peach cobbler!
BBQ Center--came here because of their Banana Split, biggest one we've ever seen.
Dessert first!
