Hatteras Island, North Carolina, United States
Drove across 64 through tons of cotton fields; all white balls everywhere; looked like snow.
Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground - 4 nights
Fabulous place directly on the Atlantic Ocean. Sure can't beat the location.
Nice grounds; full hookups.

Mega time walking along the beach. Love watching the dolphin. One day rays were jumping.
Big thing in this area is fishing from shore. Interesting seeing all the trucks with fish holders on front bumper with fishing poles in them.
Pea Island Wildlife Visitor Center: Assortment of wildlife exhibits and interpretive information. Wildlife viewing along two wildlife trails Saw many birds.
The night we went for Sunset, saw turns and  6 white swans.
Great place for Sunset. The sky stayed so red. Great place!
Kill Devil Hills:  Wright Brothers Memorial Nat'l Park--Great Visitors' Center.
Flight length markers, reproductions of the brothers' 1903 camp buildings, stood at the place where Wilbur and Orville first went up in their 1903 flyer and landed, and climbed Big Kill Devil Hill to see the monument commemorating their historic achievement.
Great place to learn about Wright Brothers history and share a piece of history. Really worth seeing!
PigMan BBQ: not that great; sauce had too much vinegar for our taste.
OCRACOKE ISLAND: drove to Hatteras for the Ferry to the island.
Delightful walk looking in the quaint, quirky shops
Jolly Roger for lunch--fresh bluefish sandwich and crab corn chowder. Great spot right on docks.
Ocracoke Lighthouse: Second oldest in US still in operation. Cannot climb it.
Hammock Hills nature trail.  Only walked a short way because mosquitoes were so bad.
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse: Tallest brick lighthouse in US. Couldn't walk up; closed Columbus Day.
BODIE ISLAND is a long, narrow barrier peninsula that forms the northernmost portion of the Outer Banks. Road work along the drive. Major wind last night so the road was coverered in sand.
Lighthouse and Marsh Boardwalk.
Nags Head Pier for lunch. Food just ok--flounder wasn't that good; fantastic french fries; great view watching people fish on pier.
Drove to end of road at Corolla and onto 4-wheel drive area.
Fun driving on beach. Saw one horse. Can't believe all the humongous houses.
Currituck Banks National Estuarine Boardwalk: Trail really nice and well maintained. Currituck Beach Lighthouse.  Schoolhouse road restored buildings.
