AKOROA - Top 10 Holiday Park

Nice camping on a hill overlooking Akoroa Harbor.
Interesting young couple with infant next to us at the campground. They sold their home and are traveling.
TOWN: Originally a French settlement, this is a charming little town in the Bank's Peninsula situated on a magnificent harbor. Delightful place to walk, shop, and eat.
Enjoyed Fish-n-Chips on a picnic table overlooking the bay. The fish was new to us--elephant fish (mild fish), very good.
Feb 14: Next morning danish/coffee at local Bakery, nothing great.
Akaroa Dolphin AdventuresHad to wait until noon for the two-hour boat tour.

Very rough in mouth to open ocean--30-ft swells. Saw: Hector dolphins, one yellow-billed penguin, seals with pups.

Salmon farms here are high quality. Wanted to try their salmon; however, the recommended restaurant wasn't open.

Next destination is Arthur's Pass; however, too far to go today after getting such a late start in the day. Will drive for a couple of hours so we can get an early start the next morning.
Drove Akoroa > Glentunnel through miles of farms: sheep, deer, lama, emu, cattle.
GLENTUNNEL HOLIDAY PARK:   Campground not that great. Parked in a grassy field. Charged 50 cents for shower.  Met nice people from Wellington and couple from England.
