Aoraki / Mount Cook, Canterbury, New Zealand
Many scenic viewpoints along the drive to Lake Tekapo.
Lots of lupin flowers on side of road.
Lake Tekapo is famous for its crystal-clear lake and mountain backdrop. The glacial lake was beautiful green/blue color. "Glows like an opal" (tour book's description)--perfect words.

Church of the Good Shepard--simple Anglican church along shores of Lake Tekapo built in 1935.
Scenic drive along glacier fed Lake Pukaki, a shimmering blue jewel surrounded by high mountain peaks.  Great view of Mt Cook from Peter's Viewpoint. Ideal clear, warm day--no clouds covering the mountain. People say it's a rarity when the mountains are not shrouded in clouds. Feeling very Lucky.
Very Scenic Drive on  Hwy-80 to Mount Cook National Park.
Mount Cook: Kea Point walk
Started at campground. Boardwalk gently wound through grasslands turning into gravel path to the Mueller Glacier moraine wall. Pretty tiny butterflies along the walk.
Walk ended at a viewing deck with postcard views of Mount Sefton, Mueller Glacier lake, and Mount Cook. Lucked out with the weather today. Perfect views of New Zealand's highest mountain (12,218 ft). Could see waterfalls with binoculars.
Good time meeting and chatting with a big group from North Carolina.
Drove south on hwy-8.
Twizel:  Stopped to eat - Market Place Cafe, fish 'n chips, not that great.
