drive to KAIKOURA: seal colony

Kaikoura, Canterbury, New Zealand
About a two-hour drive to the east coast.
KAIKOURA TOP 10  campground
Kaikoura is a nice beach front town framed by the spectacular Kaikōura mountain range and the expansive Pacific Ocean.
The deep water just off shore has a rare convergence of two strong ocean currents creating the environment for a diverse marine wildlife species. The town is famous for up close whale watching.
First on the agenda here was to find an RV repair place. The holding tank valve broke from hitting a rock. Went to Kiakoura Marine Inc; going to take two hours.
Walked around town going first to the iCenter. Our niece went on a Dinner Cruise here that she loved. However, they didn't know of any dinner cruises.  Also checked out Whale Watching Cruises. Decided not to spend the money ($150 each) since we've done this before in Oregon.
Saw Ted & Joan again and talked with them for quite a while.
Enjoyed sitting on the long pebble beach that stretches from the town all the way to the nearby seal colony.
The next morning, went to Ohau Point Seal Colony.
Best place we've been for getting close to the seals.

Nice walk around the peninsula. Stunning views at Ohau Point Lookout.
