Te Paki Coastal Track: From Ninety Mile Beach, about 45 minute drive up to the northernmost tip of the North Island. A herd of cows blocked the road. Interesting to watch the man in charge. He blew a whistle and dogs herded the cows over the bridge to put in another pasture.
Great Sand Dunes for sliding down. Hope this cardboard works. Forgot how difficult it was to walk up a dune. The cardboard really didn't slide very well. Needed to rent a surfboard. However, a fun slide down was not worth the walk up again! 

Rarawa Beach: Read about the unique sand here that is white silica composed of almost pure quartz grains. Like walking in fine flour. 

Heading back south along Hwy-1:

Gumdiggers Park near Waiharara: Store didn't have anything that great.
$10 entry fee to do the 30-min loop track around an ancient buried Kauri forest.

Crossed the Mangamuka River Bridge continuing on the winding Mangamuka Road south.
Kohukohu for the Hokianaga Ferry: Only way to get across the Hokianga Harbor is by Car Ferry. Scenic 15-minute ride down the waterway between Kohukohu and Rawene. 

OPONANI HOLIDAY PARK
Great location opposite the beach. Awesome views of the Sand Dunes across water; have to take boat to get to them. 

Short walk to get fish-n-chips at Oponani Beach Takeaways. Fish was blue nose; just OK.
