Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
Right after leaving Amarillo is a huge beef feed lot along I-35. The smell was horrendous. "Windmill Alley" for about 100 miles from Gray County almost to the Texas border.

ALBUQUERQUE - Albuquerque Central KOA for 2 nights
Great location. Nice park. Sites close together; nice mountain views.
Visited with cousins who live east of the city. Spent the evening enjoying the tour of their 15 acre property.
8/9:  Made the most of our one full day here. Enjoyed meals with our cousins at their favorite local restaurants. Breakfast at Vic's. Delightful patio; awesome burrito.   Dinner at El Patio Rio, a small neighborhood restaurant with nice patio dining. Fabulous food. Had the combo plate with  Chile rellenos, cheese-onion enchilada, carnitas taco (eye-watering spicy), beans, papas, sopapilla.  Highly recommend both places.

Petroglyph National Monument. There are various trails around the city. Chose Piedras Marcadas Canyon 1.5 mile hike. Strange having a trail start in the middle of a neighborhood and continue up the hill above the houses. Interesting figures on the black volcanic boulders. Solid sun; got really hot by noon.

Old Town---walked around plaza enjoying the band 's music. Across from the square is the  San Felipe de Neri Church, built in 1793. Admired the historic adobe-style architecture. Lovely spot for an evening stroll.
