Didn't encounter many cars on the drive to Logan Pass, which took about an hour. Surprised how many cars were in the parking lot was when we arrived a little past 6:00--about 95% full.
Trail starts behind the Visitor Center--paved, boardwalk with lots of steps, then gravel. As we walked up the mountain, the sun started to rise resulting in the most incredible views. Mountains behind us in the east turning pink.
Mount Clements dominated the view directly in front of the trail, and the rising sun turned its tip gold. The color kept creeping down as the sun got higher. WOW! Definitely want to be here for the "Golden Hour."
Constant parade of people, everyone passing us. Plenty of chipmunks and marmots, lots of butterflies. Trickles of water running down the mountains covered with wildflowers. A waterfall coming down over moss-covered rock wall. No wonder this area is called "Garden Wall."
About 2 hours for us to reach the Overlook (1.3 miles). Sat on rocks enjoying the outstanding panoramic views of the lake below and surrounding mountains.
Very hot by midday--90. We are hot and very tired--blaming it on the altitude.
Lots of cars going back on the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Most of the viewing areas parking spots were full.
