drive south (Olden, Boybreen Glacier) > HAFSLO

Thursday, August 25, 2022
Hafslo, Vestland, Norway
FV60 to Olden, which was only about 15 minutes.  Stopped at Outlet stores. This was a first, no one bought anything. Pretty park area next to the Oldeelva River.

Cloudy, but around 11 the sun started to pop through the clouds by Innvik with good views along Innvikfjord.

Roadside stand for plums and apples; apples quite sour. Another drive with fjord beauty at every turn. After Utvik, up and over the mountain. Had to dodge sheep on the road.

E39 south. Skei roundabout at Junction with Rv5. Right after turning, stopped along the top edge of Skeisbukta Lake at Joker parking area.  More photos . . . and donuts.

Turnoff to Boybreen Glacier Viewpoint. The easiest place ever to view a glacier up close.

Parked, walked up the hill for lunch at Brevasshytta Café.  Had the fish and chicken, which was very flavorful. Highlight was the panorama windows view.

Very short walk to the lake. Nice to have it almost to ourselves--only three other people there. Definitely one of the most jaw-dropping spots!

When leaving, three tour buses arrived. Sure timed that right. Pouring rain through Fjordland. Sogndal large town--college campus. Nice views of Sognefjord. Spending several days in this area.
  • The Sognefjord is also known as the “King of the fjords.” The largest and deepest fjord in Norway stretches 127 miles from the ocean all the way into the small village of Skjolden. Several “arms”  branch off that are truly stunning with many cultural and historical attractions.

Arrived at campground around 4:00.
HALFSLO - LYNGMO GJESTEHUS & CAMPING
-  2 nights
Site C3, another beautiful spot on Hafslovatnet Lake four miles from Solvorn.
Randy talked with guy next to us who knew all about our campervan and how to adjust the heater.

Guesthouse up the hill with really nice facilities--bathrooms, laundry, kitchen. Used their kitchen to make pasta for dinner.  Fun talking and learning new recipes with the other family cooking dinner.

Light rain all night and in morning. The second night, people with tents came and set them up right in front of our rv--ruined the view!
