End of Campervan Trip - Fjord Trip Thoughts

Dal, Viken, Norway
About 2.5 hour drive to hotel. Emptied the gray water at the marina just down the road.

North on Rv350 at Hokksund. Didn't expect such a hilly drive. Lots of moose signs and big farm fields along the Tyrifjord.  Some kind of big crane-looking birds, hundreds of them in the field.

E16 north at Hønefoss. Buildings had neat looking gables on the roof peaks.
BEST WESTERN - DAL  - 1 night
The campervan has to be returned at 9am tomorrow morning. This is the closest hotel to the campervan drop off place

Spent the afternoon emptying and cleaning the campervan. Hotel staff super helpful and accommodating.
Dinner at hotel buffet - chicken wings really good.
Breakfast buffet included - not that great.

        FJORD TRIP THOUGHTS:
This quote sums up Norway: "It is definitely not about reaching the destination but the journey that takes you through."
No exaggeration, WOW was uttered every five minutes with a stop for a photo.  Every moment had stunning mountain scenery with views of a fjord, river, or waterfall. The untamed beauty almost seemed unreal.
Driving through this magnificent country, filled with lush family farms, included lots of bridges, ferries, and through more tunnels than imaginable.  All part of the fun!  Decided our trip name should be:
      "1001 tunnels & 1001 waterfalls."
The campervan had a pass on it that charged the tolls to the rental company and then we paid them at the end of the trip. Norway's ferry system was highly efficient and an advance reservation was not necessary for anywhere we traveled. The ferries were super easy to use - lined up, never more than a 20-minute wait, guided loading, and best of all, a mini-fjord cruise.

The flexibility a campervan provided was absolutely the best way to explore the fjord areas. The historic stave churches and picturesque little towns at the end of the fjords were each a little different in their own way and a delight to visit. Some heart-stopping moments driving along narrow one-lane roads winding up and down steep mountains. Campsites in perfect locations right on the water's edge with million-dollar views.

Without a doubt a magical journey!!!
