Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States
                          DESERT VIEW AREA--GRAND CANYON

South Kaibab Trail
Walked this steep ridge trail as far as OooAah Point (so appropriately named) where you are perched on a big outcrop right over the canyon. Along the way quite a few really fat rock squirrels, blue jay, red flowered cactus. On way back up, mule train passed us. 2.5 hours--pretty good time for us (1.8 miles round trip), especially with so much stopping for admiring the views and taking way too many pictures.

Yaki Point
Stretches far out into the Canyon with views of Cape Royal, Wotan's Throne, and Vishnu Temple

Tuscayan Museum & Ruins
Very interesting museum. Short paved, self-guided walk around 500-year-old Pueblo ruin. "Hopi stories tell of coming into this world through a hole in the sky of the world below. That opening is located deep within Grand Canyon."

Watch Tower
70' tower originally built in 1932 by architect Mary Colter in collaboration with Hopi artisans. Fred Kabotie's murals featured on second level. Interesting Indian designs on walls going up to the 4th floor observation tower, the highest point on the south rim. Stunning panoramic and long-distance views!!

Lipon Point for Sunset
A little light up of the canyon walls; much better at Mather Point.
