Kodachrome State Park Campground - 12 nights
"Kodachrome Basin State Park, with its red tinged rock formations and incredible blue skies, just begs to be photographed. The National Geographic Society came up with the name. Towering monolithic spires or chimneys jut up from the valley floor or protrude from the sandstone rocks that surround the campground."
Interesting chimneys everywhere, over 60 in the area.
Entire campground is paved.
Very few full-hookup sites available.
Managed to reserve one night, then four--on different sites.

Upon arrival, found out rain predicted for several days, which meant we would want to stay longer. Talked to the ranger; the people just left a first-come site right next to us, which allows a maximum stay of two weeks. Perfect and we only have to move this once. Yea!

Big bunches of Hopi Blanket flowers everywhere with flocks of Lesser Golden Finches feeding in them.
Enjoyed watching them every day right outside the rv window or at the picnic table.

The first three days here rain on and off all day long.
The sun would pop out for a minute. As soon as we'd put shoes on, rain would start.
Time well spent organizing the massive amount of pictures taken so far and journal updating.
Sunny skies from then on with high 70's and low 50's.
Morning Views wonderful! The tops of the mountains lit up gradually as the sun rose. Even the rain provided beautiful dark skies with interesting cloud formations. One morning the fog rolled through gradually covering the lit-up peaks. Every morning has been different and spectacular.

Night Skies, for which this area is renowned--INCREDIBLE!!!
The first night couldn't believe the millions of stars that lit up the sky with the Milky Way stretching from horizon to horizon.
Other Park Info:
--No Cell Service. Drove to Tropic, about 20 min, for a signal.
--Bryce National Park, 40 min drive.
--The only negative was having a mouse get in the rv; bring mouse traps if staying here.
