Escalante, Utah, United States
Escalante Visitor Center
This Grand Staircase-Escalante National center focuses on plants and animals, especially dinosaurs; Utah triceratops skeleton pretty impressive.
Good trail maps; Hole in Rock and Burr Trail Road pamphlets detailing what to see by mile marker.

Historic Homes brochure self-guided tour

Perfect time to be here. Nice Arts/Crafts Street Fair with good food, live music.
Lots of paintings, rock jewelry, pottery, homemade soaps, etc.

 Food Trucks
--ate here both days the food was so good
* Garden Patch--brick oven pizza; delicious
* IDK barbeque--pulled pork sandwiches (same one from Cannonville)
* Navajo taco--fry bread delicious; insides not so good no flavor to beans.
* Magnolias--tacos mushroom, grilled squash and corn, cabbage, green onions, cilantro, lime--best ever!

ATE OUT:

Circle D right next to campground--ribs very moist, fall-off-the-bone tender but something strange about the flavor, perhaps the wood used to smoke; delicious fries.

Nimos for a shake that so many people said was so great; Sonic's are better.

North Creek Grill wood-oven pizza; delicious; best pizza in town. Very slow service.
The outisde patio dining is so delightful that we didn't mind waiting, plus lovely conversation with the other two tables

Outfitters pizza good. Eating on the screened front porch was perfect place to watch "blood moon" rising and the eclipse. Not much color, though, in this part of the country.
