Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Started early for our day in Perth. Train from Fremantle to Murray Street Mall, which is a beautiful shopping area made to look like Tudor England. Walked a few blocks to the bus stop admiring the buildings along the way.

HOP ON-OFF BIG RED BUS
Very few people on the open top double decker bus in the early morning. Sat on top in back; perfect "bird's eye" views for the two-hour circuit. Great way to see the highlights of the city even though the commentary was difficult to hear.

KINGS PARK
Got off the Bus at the Botanical Gardens to walk back to the restaurant through the gardens. Enjoyed the nice paths admiring the state's unique flora.  (Hindsight--should have gotten off at the Visitor Center/restaurant for a map of area.) Bus returns to each stop in about an hour. Planned to eat in the restaurant.  Ordered water then looked at the menu--nothing appealing. The water bottles were $7 each--OMG!!! Went next door to the Patio outdoor eating--fish/chips and pizza were very good. Great views of Perth's downtown from the Park. Back on the Bus to finish the circuit.

BELL TOWER
Unique 270-ft high towering glass spire with its "blend of rich 14th century history and contemporary Australian architecture." It houses one of the largest musical instruments in the world. Elevator to the top 6th level Observation Deck's 360-degree view. Played the coin-operated Carillon Bells. Stunning panoramic views of city and Swan River. The nice guide explained all about the reclaimed area being developed. Walked down looking at the exhibits and interesting history on each level. The fourth level has the the set of 18 bells that hang in a specially built copper and glass enclosure. Twelve bells are from St Martin's, one of London's most famous churches, and are recorded as being in existence from before the 14th century. They are mentioned in the famous children's rhyme "Oranges and Lemons."

Nice walk though town back to the train station. Sure enjoyed our time in this beautiful city.
