KANGAROO ISLAND NATURAL HIGHLIGHTS Excursion (7hrs).
Scenic ride on tour bus through rolling green hills to the rugged south coast. Because of the time crunch to see everything, the bus "flew" down the road with the local guide giving some personal stories along the way. Didn't even slow down while on the dirt road, which cut off quite a bit of distance. Passed American Bay, Pelican Lagoon, lots of sheep and cattle farms, honey bee industry. (about 1.5 hrs drive)

Flinders Chase National Park on the western side of the island. Half hour drive through lush eucalyptus forests to the immensely picturesque coast with the rocky shoreline and towering limestone cliffs. Short bus ride between each of the scenic stops.
Remarkable Rocks--a collection of enormous orange lichen-covered granite boulders sculptured into strange shapes by millions of years of rain, wind, and pounding sea.

Cape duCouedic Lighthouse built 1907-9. Nothing but sea from here to the South Pole.
Admirals Arch--Nice boardwalk down a rugged cliff face to a spectacular rock archway. This stalactite-covered eroded rock bridge created by years of smashing waves is so unique. What a picturesque setting to watch the Long-nosed Fur Seals and their pups resting, swimming, and playing in the waves.
National Park Visitors Center another short drive for a Picnic Lunch (sandwiches, muffin, water)
Seal Bay--home to a breeding colony of Australian Sea Lions. They spend 3 days at sea, then 3 days resting on land. Fascinating to watch the playful pups. Back to bus in time for the last boat back to ship at 3:30.
Great views as the ship cruised along the island's shoreline.
