World Soccer Opening Game World Soccer Game in Germany 2006
So what is more excited in a soccer-crazy country when the World Soccer Games are also held in Germany? For us it was also really cool because it was now very easy to find a German Flag, German glasses, German T-shirts, German Backpacks, German Chairs….. And we brought it all back home to Canada.
So in June and July – Germany was in Soccer fever – suddenly you saw everywhere German Flags. And with the game in our country, every town had a big screen anywhere to watch the Games, and so also we were part to watch those important games:
Oh and by the way: Even in the hospital they had TV's and you were allowed to watch the game during your work hours if the Germans played!!

Germany is winning June 9, 2006: the World Cup starts
As a suddenly new discovered soccer fan, Paul had his flag ready and started drinking from the German glass… and the first opening we saw nicely and relaxed at home when Germany played.
But then after the German’s win we too had to go out and celebrate with all the other fans in Metzingen.

June 10, 2006: England in Frankfurt
This Game Paul watched in Frankfurt when we saw the first time the crazy English people – which really fascinated Paul – so during he enjoyed his day Gine wrote an exam: check out the Frankfurt pod

World Soccer Game - Stuttgart with Netherlands June 16, 2006: Netherlands plays in Stuttgart
A Game in Stuttgart so we took the train there… and with lots of thousands of crazy 'orange’ Dutch people we had a lot of fun. I think it was more fun to see the people go nuts, then actually watch the game, ok maybe Paul also watched the Game… I more watched the people.

And Highlights are:
  • They even have a timer counting down to the games
  • Soccer balls and soccer everywhere
  • Orange, Orange and more Orange… I think that’s the new fashion
  • Huge Screens on the Schloss platz
  • Crazy orange Dutch jumping into the historic fountains…… until everything is orange and the security comes and throw them out
  • And everywhere some yummy German bratwursts….
It was so cool – that we decided we have to see it again and come back to Stuttgart ones more.

World Soccer Game - Reutlingen - Italy plays June 17, 2005: Reutlingen – Italy plays
It’s always more fun to be in the crowd, so tonight we took the train to Reutlingen to be part of the Italian community – and we watched them how they celebrated their victory.

Ricci June 24, 2006: a double event: Richie’s birthday & a Soccer game
Today is Ricci’s birthday, but even if celebrating a birthday, a real German Soccer freak will have the TV set up, so that everyone can watch the game… and the flags are close by. Because if Germany is playing nothing is more important, especially we are now in the next round and the looser would go home – but not Germany.

World soccer Game - Stuttgart - Enland plays June 25, 2006: England in Stuttgart
Another trip to Stuttgart – Ricci and Simone were lucky and got tickets for the stadium… so they send some pictures to us, so we could also see the inside of the stadium.
But we still had a lot of fun on the Schlossplatz. Because we already know: the English people can be nuts, especially when they win.

So today we came a little earlier and had time to go in the Schlossgarten and relax in the sun: enjoy the nice water fountains and what I thought was supercool: the car display in the lake – I mean how often you see a car ‘on’ the water. We also took the time to check out the old and the new castle until finally it was time for the game and the soccer-crazy people.
And the main colours were white and red… but then we already knew English are crazy too.
We checked out the Vineyard village: a cool little place to have a drink and also stuck a little around to watch the After-part…
I don’t even want to know, how much all the police force and the clean-up costs.

July 4, 2006: We watch the Italy-Germany semi-final in Italy
We are on our Italy trip, but that will not keep Paul from being a proud German and watch the game… but then he was so disappointed and then he was not so eager to watch the Final… because the German’s were only on place 3.
