Port McNeill

First time here: we had to explore this "town"… not to big so it went fairly fast and what's to see:
- A nice waterfront: with view on the islands (next time)
- Harbour walk: with views on all the boats and a wonderful cute dolphin
- An amazing monkey tree we saw it with fruit or flower??? It looks strange
- An old steam donkey from 1938 – easy to discover this was once a logging town

They say those are the 2 largest ones in a world – and you wonder – really why did they have to cut so amazing trees, and in case you don’t know what a burl is, if you see those you will know: abnormal funky growing’s in the trees.
No 1: is in the middle of the town – the tree cut in 2006 (I can’t believe they dared cutting down a tree this large only that recently – you ask if they ever heard about protecting a 1000 year old tree) – it weighs 30 tons and is 6 m in diameter
No 2: we found up the road from a 351 year old Sitka Spruce and it was cut in 1976 – this one is covered in a paint, so it won’t deteriorate.

In case you can’t pronounce it, then it is time to learn the Indian language. – Cluxewe means “place of the changing river mouth”. And the very best we got a campground right at the ocean, with Claudia & Uwe next to us. Sitting on the beach and watching the beach – opening the door and walking onto the beach…
It’s cloudy
So either it is true and there are more clouds at the northern part of the island or it’s a cloudy summer….

We did had to check out the lagoon and the river… and we found a seaweed which was in a circle full of dead crabs… looks kind of creepy , trees falling over, moss hanging on trees.

And in the evening it was really nice with a beautiful sunset… the sun coming out and sparkling over the water, perfect to sit with Claudia and Uwe and enjoy it and talk about going RV’ing….

And on the way up we saw another bear…. Ok this trip is cook and even if it is only for all the bears we see.
