Elk Falls PP – Aug 2-3, 2011

When it is hot in supper we look for a campground with some shady trees and one we don’t have to pre-book, and that is how we ended up here at the Elk falls.

Since we are not sure if we ever checked out this trail, we decided it would be good to explore it. So first along the Quinsam River and then along the Beaver pond: ok we didn’t see beavers of kingfishers… but we saw waterlily plants and ducks...

And lucky as we are: we got a riverfront campsite… so that being the case we set up our chairs to relax… enjoying all the wonderful sunshine.

The best way to start a day is with sunshine and a Canadian breakfast… and so we start the day… I can’t be better

As we learned from previous trips you can either walk to the falls and the spend most of the time walking – or you drive to the Falls Parking lot and then spend the time at the falls. And that’s what we did: now we had a lot of time to enjoy the view to the wonderful falls.
I always think it is interesting to see the little water pools in the rocks and the plants growing there. Today we had a lot of time not only to look, but also to take of the feet and check out the cold water, so we took our time to sit enjoy and explore all different falls

So far we never checked out this lake… and therefore we went to the John Hart Lake and we found (thanks to Geocache) a nice spot on a bluff with a great view…
And when you cross the bridge to the lake you also having a great view down on the river

And after all this exploring we had to cool off in the river – the most perfect spot on a hot day. And so we go in and out, until it is supper time

And every wonderful camping weekend comes to an end…
