Arriving in Tonala

Tonalá, Jalisco, Mexico
Took a cab from the bus station to Tonala (ESE Guadalajara). Several cabbies got together to figure out where my hotel was (yeah, thought I was going to get shafted by another cabbie). Turns out my street begins at a major road but changes names six blocks later (that happens a lot, at least around here). Only took about 10 minutes to get there, for under $7.

Checked in.   So here is home for the next 5 days:

The place appears nice enough, but 24 hours later I realize that it isn't all that clean, shower barely functions, hot water takes about 5 minutes to arrive, no hot water in sink, no A/C and no fan (luckily, the weather's been great this week), no view. Had wifi fist night, then no wifi for next three days. After going back and forth trying to fix it, they shut off the video camera in my area and that fixed it. I think they gave me the worst room in the house.

Then went out for dinner at the nicest restaurant in the area (El Rincon del Sol), so the lady at the hotel desk said (she spoke decent english).

Had the house specialty - Chiles en Nogado: poblano peppers stuffed with ground beef, raisins, peas, carrots, with a walnut cream sauce sprinkled with pomegranate seeds, with rice and a small salad. Very tasty. Cost: $8
