Roberto was coming back into town, so I started the day by working my blog through the word processor (still poor internet).

Roberto showed up around 9:30 and we headed to Guayabitos. Walked around with Roberto reacquainting himself with old friends (been 12 years since his last visit). Stopped at this one gal’s place for lunch: had enchiladas (so-so). Went down to the beach. It’s Saturday, so it was busy, but not packed (season doesn’t start ’til Nov or Dec). Started getting hot on the beach so we headed for a place Roberto knew so we could get a drink. This is the third place we went to that wasn’t there anymore. People are selling out because it’s not the quiet place it used to be. So we headed back down the main street and Roberto found a couple people to talk to. I’m hot and thirsty and bored, so I told him I was heading back. He said he was just going to grab a beer someplace. I said ‘fine’, grabbed a cab, stopped at the store down the street, got coke and milk, walked up the street, put the drinks in the fridge, and jumped into a cold shower.

I’ve been sitting here for an hour typing, with my rum and coke, and the fan blowing on me, and my forehead is still hot (and I was wearing my hat)! Just a little too warm in the sunshine.

Read all afternoon, then went out to watch the sunset.
Roberto came back about that time, and shortly thereafter Martin came home.
Meanwhile there was no sunset: only clouds, signaling an approaching storm.

Martin and Roberto talked for more than an hour, in Spanish, while I just watched the clouds. Then Martin had things to do, and Roberto and I went inside and chatted for a while before going to bed.
