Beach walk

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico

The air is pretty clear, the temperature cool but a little humid. After staying inside for two days, it's high time I got out.

Still dark when I started. Right next to my hotel, which is at about 400 ft altitude, there is a staircase which goes almost straight down to the beach (cross one street, and you're there).

Not many people on the beach at this hour. I ended up walking nearly the whole PV coast, about five miles. Along the way, more walkers and joggers showed up, along with fishermen and beach patrol.

Kept looking for the sunrise, but between the clouds and the mountains the sun had a hard time showing up.

It was hitting the clouds to the north and west.

Got a better shot of the moon.

There's a big stretch of sandy beach on the south end, where I started, and then there are smaller stretches of rocks and sandy beaches as you go north.

You'd better have a very special ball, as the 'green' is about 1000 yds away. FORE!

There are nice pieces of art spread along the malecón.

And, of course, some nice places to stay.

The mountains, at every beach I've been to, are always hazy, even when the sun is shining on them.

Healthy breakfast! Needed it after walking nearly three hours. $49 ($3)

PV has a lot of nice things to see within a couple blocks of the sea. After that it's typical mexican town living. If you want to live like an american, there are lots of places where you can get your fix, from eating to shopping, and lots of signs in english.

Sunset was again almost all clouds.

Sure enough, we got good rain from about 7-9pm. I watched Thursday Night Football: how can Brady complete so many passes with those fully inflated balls? They must be cheating somehow: after all, they do have a 7 - 0 record. Hmmm?
