Looked at Barra de Navidad

Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico

Slept well, with the fan on medium.

Woke up just before sunrise to take pics. Five minutes later, this family of twelve starts running around like idiots. It’s not even light out yet. They’re checking in (what happened to noon check-in?) Don’t know where they’re from. Can’t blame the kids for being excited; they probably slept on the bus all night and are raring to go.

Took a ride to Barra de Navidad, at the other end of the beach. Someone here said it’s a Canadian town.

Only took pics of about half of this mural.

        Looking at Melaque from Barra.

Only decent pic. The beach didn't deserve any.
The beach is narrow and steep; can’t sun on it.

The lagoon side has an okay beach, but all the restaurants on that side have claimed it by putting chairs and tables out there, and then there’s the boat launch area.

A couple of big hotels on this peninsula across the entrance to a large lagoon.

The town looks nicer than most: a lot of fixed up houses. Lots of hotels under repair.

It’s a very small town with nothing there except residences (homes, hotels, apartments) and some restaurants.

All in all, I can’t see any reason to spend any time there; except if you want to be by the ocean in a community of like minded retirees.

After taking a look at Barra, it was time to move on. Got a bus ticket to Manzanillo.

Didn't realize that this is a top of the line bus.

Movie screen, on each side, for every other row of seats; each seat has a set of earphones with individual sound controls; foot and leg rest; headrest wings; lots of leg room; almost fully reclining seats; curtains and sunscreens in the windows; and two restrooms.

Arrived in Santiago (Manzanillo), went straight to my hotel.

Small park in front of hotel. Had some kind of shindig Sat night.

Flea market across the street, was packed the day before.

Worked on the internet for a couple hours. Then it's off to an early dinner.

Went to that other (more expensive) hotel across the hwy.
Only had a cheeseburger with fries ($5) and a couple beers. As you can see, it's an outside restaurant, and has only one tv. Some 'sports bar' huh? But, just before I left, a couple Canadians showed up and the manager put the tv on a sports channel.

Still had my cooler and my rum and coke, so I stayed in the rest of the day trying to work on blogs. Quit after a while, and watched a movie in english (with spanish subtitles). Then it was bedtime.
