Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico

Lazed around in bed for a while: kind of hungover, I think.

Did some internet research: trying to figure out my next move. Hate to leave here and lose my internet. But I'm all caught up on the blog. Finally! Even got some updates, and did a few other things that require a high-speed connection. I'll be in Acapulco in a few days, so I should be able to get decent internet there.

Had chips and warm coke for lunch

Troncones beach is about 12 mi from here. I'd originally had it on my list, but it's out of the way and a little difficult to get to (without a car). Found some directions on the net for how to get there from here. So I'm going to give that a try tomorrow. Still plan on giving Ixtapa a more thorough look, probably on Fri.

Did more research. About 3:30 I was getting hungry, but I didn't want to go out in the heat of the day.

4.30pm I'm antsy and a little hungry. So I went out to find something to eat, and to check up on where to leave for Troncones: good thing I did; I was a little off on my directions and walked about 6 blocks in the wrong direction (what do you expect when the directions are 'wait for the bus in front of the Electra store near downtown at the Y intersection of ...), and there's more than one Electra store! As I said, even if you speak the language, unless you ask someone who has used this route before, you are likely to get wrong directions, unintentionally. This is one of those things that I'd already read about; and, unless you're prepared for it, it could prove very frustrating and even infuriating. You have to take it all in stride, allow time for delays or wrong turns, etc. Or take an organized tour and let them worry about how they're going to get you from point A to point B by a certain time (of course you pay a lot more for this option).

So now I know where to catch the bus, and how to get there from my room (again, thank you google for the smartphone map app). I decided I wanted a hamburger. Not everyone has this on the menu. Headed toward the beach and tourist area. Went by two places that were pretty near full with Americans (small places, seating maybe a dozen). Kept going, down to the beach. It's getting near sundown, and I could get the best pics from there.

Turns out it wasn't a good sunset, and the beach runs east-west so that the sun set over the hills on the west of the bay. I think I should save some of the pics from 'good' sunset nights, like yesterday, and plug them in when I have a 'bad' sunset evening: people might believe I have great sunsets every day; you'd eat your heart out more than you already do! Truly cruel, aren't I? Ha!Ha!

The burger was a little different: bun, patty, cheese, slice of thin ham, bun. I guess if you're serving a hamburger, it should have ham on it! It tasted funny too. And the fries were limp and greasy. Definitely won't be returning.

Strolled back. Had a small cone of sherbet on the way. Wrote my blog. And it's almost time for bed.
