Tangolunda

Crucecita, Oaxaca, Mexico

Walked from my hotel to the cab area.

This is the local 'depot' for the 'supervans' (that's what the locals call these). Half a block farther, and across the six lane divided roadway, is the first class bus depot. To the left and behind is Soriana, a Wal-Mart competitor.

Hopped a $3 cab to Tangolunda: the largest beach and most resorts: Quinta Real, Camino Real, Crowne Pacific, Dreams, Barcelo.

There's a public entrance at the west end of the beach, but I wanted to start at the east end.

So I went through the woods, found this private drive (if I went the wrong way, I'd have turned up at the guard shack), and went down this hill through the woods (a lot rougher than it sounds).

Walked the beach. Couldn't get around or climb the rock wall at the end; had to scramble up the sandy hill through brush, go over a fence (with the help of a tree, but the tree scratched my arm), and then down the other side.

The next beach had this rock pier at the end, bordering on a canal. alongside the canal was a dirt road, blocked off near the main road.

View of the bay - and me!

Mountains everywhere.   Las Brisas gated their hotel and beach; no way to get around this one.

That's it for my Huatulco adventure. Most beaches are inaccessible unless you go by boat or you stay at one of the hotels, most of which are all-inclusives.

Tangolunda does have a shopping area, probably high end. There's one golf course, at least (at the Barcelo, I think).

Spent the rest of the day working on blog and watching football.
