Chill day

Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico

Spent three hours this morning on the internet: updating some programs, and doing some research.

Went up to the office to pay for the rest of my stay (one of the reasons I went into town yesterday was to get some more cash): $21 per day; no TV (there's a small lounge where you can watch tv), no a/c, not even a fan (don't know what it's like in the summertime, but the high here has been in the mid 70s with less than 50% humidity, with lows around 60). My only requirements are, first, decent internet, second, comfortable climate (if possible), next is decent food! So far, I've hit the jackpot here.

It was about 10:30, but they didn't have a problem fixing me lunch: had a tuna salad and apple juice.

Then I got back to blogging all afternoon. Even though the internet here is 'decent' (compared to elsewhere), it still bogs down sometimes, so I read while waiting for it to speed back up. Finished yesterday's blog, and as I work on this one it's now 4:30 and that's all I've got for now.

Walked up the hill again hoping to get good pics, but it's a long way up and the sun was moving too fast: half the town was in shadow before I got to the top of the hill. So I turned around and headed back down.

It's dinner time. I'm being adventurous and having the meal of the day, which is always typical Mexican fare. Today was black bean soup, slightly spicy, and thinly sliced pork, cut it into strips, lay it on a tortilla, put some kind of relish on it, roll into a taco; take a bite of the taco, then a spoonful of soup, save the salad for after (at least that's the way the owner told me to do it).

Internet was bogging down, so I watched two movies and went to sleep.
