Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico

It's Monday: last chance for me to go places I hadn't been to yet.

I'd been by this park several times on the bus: it looked nice, so I decide to visit it in person.

Ran into this small market, only about half a block, on the way from one place to another.

Just up the street from the small market is this plaza.

This rather distinguished church is just up that same street.

Just up from the church is this market, which blocks off that part of the street.

All the 'local' villages, up to 50 miles away, are represented here. The stalls aren't very big,so some of the villages have more than one stall. Interesting stuff.

A couple streets west are the remains of an aqueduct. The aqueduct structure is 4 ft wide, with the trough 1 ft wide. Inside the arches are doors to businesses built on the other side: most cover two arches.

West of that, up on a hill, and visible from most parts of town, is an amphitheatre.

Took some pics of various streets. Even the shabbiest ones aren't that bad.

Looked at a couple more shops closer to downtown. Spotted a merry-go-round tucked in the middle of some downtown buildings. To the right is the manger scene, in a tiny church in the wall!

Walked up this long street, going past the small flea market, then the street gym, and ending at a new mini-mall.

There's a full sized Wal-Mart on the south end of the second level! Took this pic at a little bit of an angle so you could see both up and down - on the right is the down escalator. Not as steep as it looks, otherwise that basket would be flying: notice - no stairs!

That's the last of my running around Oaxaca.
