Lots of mountains

San Salvador, San Salvador, El Salvador
Get up. Do morning business. Pack up. Take pics of antiques spread about the place (there are more!) Wait for office to open so you can get your luggage tag and border documents. Others arriving to get tickets. People sprawled all over ticket office: 3am is too early for anyone to get up; maybe some haven't even been to bed yet.
Daylight comes: more mountains, but no climbing! Most of it is coastal range and we're flying down the road that runs along side it.
We make a pit stop before hitting the border: we don't get off on either side; we just have to wait about 30 min each place.
Guess they lost their passports and have to just hang around.
Per gallon equivalents as I'm passing through these countries:
Mexico = $5 Guatemala = $9 El Salvador = $2.50 Honduras = $3 Nicaragua = $2.85
When you go over a river, you usually see people in or around it: they swim, wash their clothes, even wash their cars. Saw a couple guys loading river rocks into a pickup.
Lots of nice countryside in Honduras. Can't tell you anything else about it at the moment. More on the return trip.
I think this guy had an air hose problem. Kept us there for about 25 min, until our driver grabbed a wrench and walked over there; three minutes later he returned and everyone got on their way. Cars managed a way around the rear of the trailer. Cows just went down the road not a bit hassled.
Crawled past the Nicaraguan customs house.
Then we had to get off the bus to get our luggage checked and passports stamped. A few people had problems, and then other people, in cars I guess, thought they were privileged and cut in line. All in all, we were there about two hours.
Got into Managua around 5pm.
The gals at the hotel desk were less than helpful. My room had very thin walls.
I went out to dinner. Walked several blocks in each direction and found two, maybe three possibilities. It's a little bit of a run down area, and not much for businesses around there. Last restaurant I saw was pretty crowded, but I think it was just a local drinking crowd mostly. Saw and heard some foreigners, though.
Ordered this beef entree and a beer: saw a lot of these Toña bottles around, mostly in litre size!
The food was good; beef a little tough; the relish, whatever it was, was great: it was good with everything! And I like Toña: one of the best beers I've had so far.
Came back. Got on the internet for a little while. Went to bed fairly early after a long day on the bus and getting up early.
