Emotional ending

Aridup, Guna Yala, Panama

The wind continued throughout the night, but no rain.

I think besides liking to sleep-in, a few of the campers had hangovers. Again they just straggled in to breakfast.

A lot of us were leaving this island today, so we had to pack. I think a couple left on the morning boat, while we gained a couple new ones.

We headed to another island to pick up some more people.

Then we went to Dog Island again. No dogs here!!

I think i was the only one who'd already been to Dog Island, so lots of them snorkeled the sunken ship. I just swam and floated, working on my tan.

We went to Iguabi for lunch; had fish again.

I had three beers at Dog I. Then had two beers and a rum and coke on Iguabi, while some went swimming. There were other groups there and I chatted with some other people, as well as with some of our own people. It was my last chance to talk with any of them, as I would stay on the boat when we got 'home' and head for the mainland.

I was kind of bummed out. Staying was not an option at $65 per day. Plus, if you end up visiting the same half dozen islands all the time, that would get boring. Although it's the people that really add the spark to all the beauty that surrounds you. As stated, people come for one or two days mostly; then you go around and pick up people on other islands who are going to the same one as you are for the day; so it's a revolving door of people coming and going. People making quick friends, sometimes making plans to join up somewhere if they're heading in the same direction. I exchanged emails or Facebook with a few people. Most are on short term holidays, but many are taking three months or six months off or longer.

None are anxious to move on: this mini adventure in 'heaven' leaves all wanting more.

As we leave Dog Island, three get on another boat, as they've booked two nights on another island. When we get back, Alex and I head to the mainland with a few other people that came in another boat from another island. None of us is cheery.

I enjoyed the heck out of this adventure. I'll probably find other places that are just as much fun, but, for now, I really hope I get to come back here someday.

My heart aches for all the beautiful people and beautiful surroundings that now live only in my mind and heart.

Goodbye San Blas...
