Hanging out in Boquete

Boquete, Chiriquí, Panama

Got up without a hangover. Slept pretty well, in spite of the chill.

Worked on the computer for a couple of hours.

Then I headed into town to get a hoodie. I had originally decided I didn't need one. But I've had too many cold evenings the last few months. The cheapest one I could find was $16, even at the so-called 'thrift' stores.

Then it was noon, so I got a burger and fries ($9). Then I headed back and got a rum and coke ($3.50). Now I'm doing this blog.

This morning, Tom and three people who came in late last night (I guess they're in the other dorm) went off hiking. When I got here after lunch, there were two more backpacks in my dorm. Rosie (Ryan's wife) did say she was expecting close to a full house this weekend.

Read and chatted all afternoon. The new couple in our dorm are Christian and Julie from Germany: eight months into a year long adventure.

At sunset it's beer time, so we're all at the bar chitchatting. Tom comes rolling in about an hour and a half later; we were starting to get worried about him. The three he started hiking with were too slow, so he kept going at his own pace. As of midnight, they still haven't shown up. Ryan thinks they stayed in a village somewhere.

At about 11pm, we moved from the bar to the guest kitchen (outdoor) where three Spaniards who'd come in a little earlier were hanging out. They work in Panama City because of the poor economic situation in Spain right now.

It's after midnight. Got to save some energy for Super Bowl Sunday!
