Walk around Bocas town

Bocas del Toro, Bocas del Toro, Panama

Took a complete walk around town. Which isn't very hard to do: it's only six streets deep, and the first two are half streets; and it's only eight blocks wide. So the pics you see cover most of it, minus the detail.

It's been in the 80s and somewhat humid. I'd hoped it would be dry and pleasant like San Blas. It rained most of the first day; since then the clouds have been in and out, with a little drizzle and a couple light showers.

Most of the people you see on the street are tourists. A California boy, instructor at La Buga, said that he probably couldn't hang around here for more than a month without getting bored; but he's been working here for three years and has no intention of moving on. It's actually smaller than El Valle, but you have the mountains nearby, and there are half a dozen more islands where you can hang out and visit other people, and the constant flow of tourists, enough to keep one from getting too bored. And, of course, lots of eateries and gin joints.

Had dinner at a pizza place that bills itself as an Italian restaurant. There are a very limited number of pasta entrees. I guess there isn't much demand here. Plus they don't open 'til 6pm. I ordered a combination pizza: ham, pepperoni, sausage, black olives, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and artichokes. Damn good for $10.

Then I came back, played on the computer for a little bit, then hit the hay. Roommates tonight: three girls, one guy.
