Another lazy day

San Pedro La Laguna, Sololá, Guatemala
Went out for an early walk.

Took a stroll around town, up and down hills, hitting an ATM on the way; the max you can get at one time is Q2000, which is less than $300, so I have to go at least once a week; thankfully, my ATM fees are refunded, so it doesn't matter how often I hit them (there may be a maximum number per month that I'm unaware of, but no problem so far.

Was getting a little hungry on the way back. I glanced at some of the menus posted outside the restaurants I passed, but decided to eat at the hostel. When I got to the hostel restaurant, I picked up a menu and the restaurant manager reminded me that they have a buffet on Sat from 9 to 1. It was just a little after 8am, but it was ready.

The lowest price breakkfast, just toast and fruit, is $3; the average price is close to $5; the buffet was $5.45, all you can eat, and coffee included, and you can stay as long as you want: I could do breakfast and lunch!

So I indulged, a little at a time, and ate and read 'til around 11am.

Full, and tired of sitting on a dining room chair, I walked through the hostel a couple times. I don't think I mentioned that it's three floors, with rooms and dorms on the first two floors, and the dining room on the third floor. There are sofas and chairs, somewhat comfortable, on the first two floors, either in the lobby or outside the rooms. The sundeck, with hot and cold tubs, was an add-on to the second floor, but with no access to it from the second floor, only from the first or third floors; it also has a bookcase with games, a pool table, rest room, bar (only open for parties, special occasions), and tables.

There are lake views from almost anywhere in the hotel, as we are right on the water. My dorm faces the water directly, and we have three windows with bunk beds facing them (the last set of bunks is in the far corner by the restroom). We also have little area to the side of the dorm (at the entrance) where there's a sofa, a chair, and a round table with two straight back chairs, and some ivy around the columns on this 'porch' area: picturesque and comfortable place to hang out. And that's where I was for the next several hours, reading.

It was getting to be dinnertime, and I was hungry again, so up to the dining room I go. Decided on pepperoni pizza: this one was better than the others I had tried - not great, but better.

I'd had enough of reading, so I decided on a movie, sat in my bed and watched it as the sun went down, then read a little bit before laying my head down.
