Chilly today

San Pedro La Laguna, Sololá, Guatemala
Woke up early. Tried to work on the internet - no luck. Played games on my computer and read.

Got up, showered, got my laundry together. Left at 10:30, dropped off my laundry, walked around town, back at hostel at 11:20. Had breakfast (typical: eggs, bacon, pan fried potatoes, fruit and toast), read for a while.

Cool, overcast day outside. They even lit a fire in the dining room fireplace.

Got a little work done on the computer. Took a nap.

Got up at 6pm, picked up my laundry, checked menus at other restaurants, decided to eat at the hostel, again. Stood by the pizza oven (wood fired) while waiting for my chicken panini.

Ate, watched a movie (Allied - just so-so), had a white russian, read, went to sleep.

I keep looking at prices (sort of have to, on my budget): food is not much of a bargain, but still a little less than elsewhere, but liquor is real cheap: it's no wonder there's so much drinking going on around here; maybe all the drinkers come here because of the cheap booze. You can pay $2.70 for an average beer (cheapest is $1.35 - bars; I don't know what it is in stores) or a white russian and other premium drinks, Bailey's $3.40, rum/coke $1.65!! At the busier bars, the cocktail waitresses walk around with a shot belt: leather belt with a dozen shot glasses and a holder for a bottle of tequila. Shots from $.70 to $1.40, depending on where and when.
