...still waiting

Quetzaltenango, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala

Spent the morning reading, packing, getting ready to move. Had leftover pasta for lunch. Then went to a cheap hotel - $11.50/night (almost all of them are inexpensive); a room like this would be four to eight times as much in the US.

Went to my appointment at 2pm. The guy I had talked to hadn't set up anything with a teacher or homestay. The girl in charge called the guy and he said to meet him tomorrow at 11am and he would set me up with a family.

So I think I'll just stay in my room and watch movies. Don't feel like walking around, and there isn't much else to do, except go out to dinner later.

Crappy wifi. Couldn't update.

Went out to a chicken place: big chain restaurant; they have pizza too. Saw about twelve motorbikes with hot boxes parked out front. Went in, sat down, ordered a chicken breast salad and a coffee (it's cold out, needed something to warm my hands on). As I sat there, some folks went to the take-out window to order or pick up, and one after another delivery boys picking up pizza or chicken orders along with sides and liters of soda pop. Salad was good: chicken breast slices on bed of lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers, hearts of palm, roasted red peppers, ranch dressing. $6.

Back to the hotel, snuggle under the covers, watch a movie, go to sleep.
