Laundry day

Quetzaltenango, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala

Went out twice, looking for a laundromat . Did some reading in between. No wifi for a while.

Found one that was seven blocks away, but people at the hostel had mentioned one that was closer.

Finally got someone to point me in the right direction. The one they said was only a few blocks away, was actually seven blocks away and up a steep hill.

Got my stuff, dropped it off at 10:30am. They said it would be ready at 4pm.
Went into this large dining room (forgot pics) for breakfast. Ordered their cheapest egg breakfast ($3.55). Coffee, soup (didn't remember reading that), two eggs, refried beans, some kind of crumbly cheese triangles, fried plantains, toast. The guy said they usually start with oatmeal; I told him just the egg plate would be enough. Did the trick for me.

No wifi all afternoon. Read until 4pm. Picked up my laundry: pants(1), shirts(3), socks, briefs, relatively small load, only $2.

Just felt like I needed to get a drink, so I decided on where to go for dinner. The first restaurant had no rum (and this was one of the nicer restaurants, though small). The second had no appeal. The third I'd been saving for a special occasion: big fancy hotel (see pics). Filet was a little too expensive, so I ordered steak tips stroganoff. Soup starter (didn't see that on the menu either) with toasted, buttered bread. The steak tips were tender and the whole meal tasty ($14.30). Rum/coke and wine were each $3.40. I enjoyed it and was satisfied.

No wifi. Watched tv. Sleep.
