Chocolate factory?

Quetzaltenango, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
Got up and reviewed my lessons. Went to school. Sawdust carpet still in hallway where my desk usually is, so we found a different spot in one of the two courtyards. Lessons are okay. My teacher does some online teaching, so she knows English fairly well, but has trouble speaking it (online classes are written, not oral). Sometimes both of us are pulling out our cell phones to access our translation apps; she uses a different app. My biggest problem, of course, is trying to speak in full sentences, instead of just blurting out a word or two and hoping the other person figures out what I'm trying to say (my current technique). With practice in class every day, and continued learning of proper words to use, I continue to improve.

Today we walked to a chocolate factory; unfortunately, the person who does the demonstrations wasn't there. Oh, well, another time. I did buy some chocolate, but haven't tried it yet. When I was in Oaxaca, Mexico, I went to one and bought some chocolate, but it was bitter: it was made for melting down to make hot chocolate. Since then I've learned to look for the word dulce (sweet).

After school, I stopped by the barber shop, but there was a 30 min wait. Went to my room, just a block away, watched one tv episode. Went back to the barber and got my haircut. There are tons of barbers around here (and even more lawyers), so the prices are as low as $1.35. I paid $1.65 and gave a generous tip of $1.10!

Back to my room, and more tv; enough school and homework for now. About 2:30 I got hungry. Went to Domino's. Wanted to order a large so I'd have enough for at least a couple of meals. When I ordered it, the cashier began a spiel, of which I understood nothing. She repeated her spiel, pointing at different things, and I finally understood that there was a special on the large premium pizza which I was trying to order. Regular price was around $20. For $2 more, I got stuffed crust, 6 wings, a pint of ice cream, and a 2L bottlle of Coke. Enough for several days maybe.

I took it all to go. Put wings and ice cream in the fridge. Ate half the pizza over the next couple hours while watching tv. Put the rest in the fridge. Then read in bed until sacking out for the night.
