Hike

Quetzaltenango, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala

Easter Sunday? Just another day for me . Stayed in bed reading until noon. Then I got up, showered, and dressed.

Went for a hike up the nearby hill, which rises 1000 feet. There are two ways up from the base: a trail which is short (relatively) but steep, about 3000ft long, and a road which is gradual but about three times longer. Tried the trail a couple weeks ago, but only made it about a quarter of the way up before I began really huffing and puffing, then turned back. This time I tried the road: I took it slow, trying to keep my breathing under control. At a little less than halfway there, I got cold: wind picked up and clouds moved in. I'd walked for 45 min, and it took me 30 min to return. I'll try it again another day.

There are public laundry facilities scattered across town, from a single basin to this 20 person one, for people without their own facility or even running water in their domicile.

A real old house.

Big place on a hill southeast of town. No idea what it is.

While I'm going up one step at a time, this guy is jogging!

They used to charge a toll to get to the top.

Went to the store, picked up some Coke, beer, chips and dip. Had a beer and pizza while watching movies. Then read for a while before going to sleep.
