The first day of our journey is probably one of the longest distances (433.0 miles). We set out at 6:45AM (hard to believe we were both awake THAT early). Excited to get on the road! Nothing particularly exciting on the road, just some scary Florida panhandle small towns. There were a few minor hills, but mostly typical Florida roads - flat with nothing but trees on both sides. There were a couple of locations that were called "basins", but they looked more like "sinkholes" to me...
Visited with Jody's parents (Bob & Joan), and had dinner at The Boathouse restaurant. It was nice to see Bob & Joan, and they are supposed to meet us at Cracker Barrel for breakfast if Joan can get up that early.
Tomorrow, we are off to the Barber Motorsports Museum in Leeds, Alabama, just outside of Birmingham. Hopefully we can dodge the rain if we get an early start.
