Port Barton, MIMAROPA, Philippines
Our sleep last night was interrupted by dogs barking and rosters crowing for the better part of the night. We decided not to stay another night for $175, but later on John told us we were already committed. Damn! After breakfast, we did a day trip (1200PHP/$30 pp) on the water firstly stopping at a sand bank and going snorkelling to see starfish. They were really pretty.
Next we went to some open water and snorkelled over some colourful coral.
From there we went to German Island also known ad Inoladoan Island Resort for a lunch break (which was inclusive with the tour). We had BBQ chicken, parrot fish, vegetables, rice and fruit. Was a yummy feed. Was hot on the island, but at times a tad windy.
We then went on search of sea turtles. It was hard to spot them and we almost left in defeat but then one was spotted and we all (including about 4 other boats) scrambled to the spot. Luckily, the boat boys helped by swimming out and guiding Mum to them. All in all, we had abit about 6 hours on the water. We were quite happy ticking off the spotting of starfish, coral and a sea turtle!
Back on land one of the boat boys JunJun climbed a coconut tree and got 6 counts which he cut up for us to drink. Delicious!
We vegetated on the beach as the sun set.
Dinner at the restaurant was great, sizzling hotplate pork, chicken curry, seafood marinara. After that we went to settle the total bill. Ended up being $604 AUD (for an extra night accommodation, food, Island trip 1200PHP pp) which floored us considering that the accommodation was a very basic thatched hut with limited electricity and Wi-Fi, and no hot water. It's been so so expensive, by far the most expensive place we've stayed in this trip and that's saying something considering Tokyo was also expensive. Tonight we tried to pay using PayPal but that was problematic as we could not get verification.
