West Yellowstone, Montana, United States
Today the four of us met at 7:00 and went over to a little diner for breakfast. After a filling breakfast we headed into the park. After a short distance we saw a couple of lone bison. We stopped at a couple of pullouts. One was a beautiful geyser. We got to Old Faithful at about 9:55, there was a sign indicating that Old Faithful would erupt at 10:11. We went out side to wait with about 100 other tourists. Right on time it erupted. We took a long hike around the area and saw many more geysers.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, Rob lost his motorcycle key . Luckily, he was carrying a spare. Still stupid.

We rode around and saw Yellowstone Lake and stopped at the Fishing Bridge area and had lunch and gassed up. We headed north, we finally saw a herd of buffalo, in the distance, with babies. Shortly after that, we saw a bison about 1000 feet in front of us come onto the road, blocking cars. They finally wandered off the road into the stream. Mean while, we were watching another buffalo on the hill running towards the other. We were worried about it running down the hill into the group of gawking tourist, especially us on motorcycles. Luckily, it stayed up the hill and we snuck past them. Later in another traffic stoppage, people abandoned their cars in the middle of the road. We eventually found out that there was a mother black bear and two young cubs. Dave and Jeff stopped to see. We saw Tower Falls.

We all got upset with cars going from five mph over speed limit to fifteen mph under the limit . No one would use the pull out areas, which several signs stated that slower traffic move over. On the way back we saw a male bison about fifteen yards from the road just laying down watching tourist.

At one attraction we talked to a lady that had a beautiful Great Dane. It was a service dog. She had a heart condition that could cause her to pass out. The dog was trained to signal the condition prior to her noticing. She needed a big dog because if she did go down she needed a dog big and sturdy enough for her to use to pull herself back to her feet. Sh told us that the service dog trainers would not train a big dog because they lived only 8 - 9 years and it took 1 - 2 years to train. She took a year off and worked with the trainers with her dog. The dog completely ignored Rob until she said "meet." Then he smelled the back of his hand. Very well trained and did I say beautiful.

So far the count is bison, wolf, elk, hawks, and grouse.
