Amarillo, Texas, United States
Well, after crossing parts of four states today, here we are in Texas. We've travelled 2,110 km, and you'd think that now that we're in Texas, we'd be almost at South Padre Island. But we still have 1,350 km to go. Damn, Texas is a big 'un.

We hit the road a little later today (10:15ish), and stopped for lunch and to look at the statue of Buffalo Bill shooting a buffalo in Oakley, Kansas (home of Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley) . As a result, we pulled into Amarillo later than we did the last couple of days, around 7 pm. The sunset as we were driving was beautiful and, unlike Cabo, lasted forever.

The weather has been great for travelling. No snow, no rain, no wind. Dry roads. However, I have to say I was hoping the temperatures would have warmed up by now. The highest we've seen in the daytime is 14 degrees, and it's below zero at nite. :( I can only hope that's still warmer than at home.

We went to Cracker Barrel Country Store for supper. Very good and inexpensive ($17 for both of us). Texas food - chicken dumplins & gravy, chicken livers, chicken fried steak, etc.

Roger stops today - 4; S.K. - 2 (including filling up in North Platte before we left). Running total: Roger - 9; S.K. - 4.

Uck - not a fan of the white paste. I had chicken and dumplins - white chicken buried in white sauce with white thick noodles (dumplins). The continental breakfasts at the motels have two main fares - belgian waffles, and bisquits and white gravy. Not appetizing for us for breakfast, but some people were eating two servings of it. Roger P - you warned us about that. :oP
