South Padre Island, Texas, United States
Jan 15
Lois went to church, then picked me up to go to the SPI Farmers' Market at The Shores . Pretty small - hopefully there will be a better one at Brownsville. One farmer booth had ~ 30 people in line - best produce, apparently. We saw people with purple cauliflower, and orange cauliflower. None left, but we will have to find us some of that to try.

Lois and I made a yummy brunch of blueberry pancakes, eggs, and turkey bacon, then went and sat on the beach for the afternoon, while Roger & Gil watched the NFL games. Happy to say Roger earned his $2 back.

Gil must be feeling better ... he's going golfing tomorrow. Roger is gonna hang with us girls.

It's Martin Luther King day, so it's a national holiday here.   It has warmed up nicely (75 degrees today, and humid). We went for a walk on the beach, and Gil went golfing. Roger and I tried to go to the Turtle Rescue, but it's closed Mondays. :( So we toured around a bit on the island. Then we went across the bridge to Port Isabel and climbed up inside the lighthouse to see the view.

As I've said before, I love Port Isabelle. It not as touristy as the island, more like a fishing village?

Must've been awhile ago that you've been here. Not a fishing village at all anymore ...
